Are paid online surveys a legitimate way to make money, or are they all just an elaborate scam that lines nobody's pockets but those that run the survey sites? Yes, there are a lot of scams out there - most people who work online will admit to having fallen foul of at least one (if not more) 'work at home' scam when they first started using the internet. Many have lots hundreds or even thousands of dollars, and it's so easy to do so when there are so many wonderful sounding programs promising the earth for very little effort.
Luckily, there are legitimate online surveys available, and some of them pay very well. Typically with a quality survey site that provides you with good surveys you could average $25 - $95 per hour, which isn't bad at all, considering you can do it from the comfort of your own home.
If is important to be careful though when choosing an online survey site though, and there are a few signs you should look out for when determining whether or not a site is legitimate. First of all, avoid sites with poor web design - a company that cannot afford to pay a professional to design their site might just be a scammer trying his luck. Not necessarily, but don't take the chance.
Also look out for proof of customer support and customer testimonials. A good quality site should have good testimonials from satisfied customers. Customer support is also essential - you don't want to pay your membership fee and find that you can't find answers to your questions or get help when you need it.
Do a search on Google or another search engine for the paid survey site you are investigating. If a site is a scam people will be talking about it. However, if you can find mainly only good reviews then you might be on to a good thing (even a good site will get some negative reviews, just make sure they are far outweighed by the good ones).
Lastly, always look out for a money back guarantee. This will protect you in the event that you are unsatisfied with your purchase. Don't abuse this guarantee though - try out the site for a week, and if you haven't earned anything by then you should definitely seek a refund.
There are high quality, legitimate survey sites available, and many people enjoy increased financial security because of the extra money they earn online. It is generally far more enjoyable earning money from home and in your own time than going out to work, however, you could do both and earn even more.
