Ways to promote your website

There are a ton of articles about internet marketing and ways to promote your website or blog, so many in fact that it's easy to be overwhelmed. The following article focuses on three key areas that you should address to promote your blog or website:

1.) Search Engines
Focus on free traffic? One of the most common mistakes when making a blog or website is the lack of attention to META tags. When you submit your site to search engines, make sure that your META tags reflect your website. The things to keep in mind of are target and competitor keywords, target and competitor descriptions etc… In this business like many others, time is money. Try your best to find the best use of your time whether it be creating content, marketing your website or creating backlinks.

2.) Backlinks
We need backlinks! Your site traffic will be directly related to the number of high quality sites linking back to your website or blog. This is because Google has something called a "Popularity" rating and it actively monitors your authority links to determine your position. The best way to gain backlinks is to ask bloggers and website owners in the same niche.

3.) Social Networking
Some of my favorite sites to participate in and gain traffic include : Technorati, StumbleUpon, Zimbio, BuzzFeed, Digg, Twitter, Entrecard etc..

These three promotional strategies have been incredibly useful in building this sites traffic as well as my other blogs and websites. The field of internet marketing and promotions is constantly changing, if we want to be successful it's should be our goal to stay ahead of the trend and be trendsetters. By the time it comes around to the general population it will most likely have lost some of its appeal.
